Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Mentara LLC ("Mentara," "we," "us") collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use the Mentara Fit app on iPhone or Android and the website at mentarafit.com (together, the "Service").

In short: we use your information to run the app's features. We do not show ads, we do not use advertising or third-party analytics tools, and we do not sell your personal information.

Account. Your name, email address, username, and password. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from them (with Apple, this may be a private relay address). Your password is handled by our authentication provider and stored only in hashed form.

Profile. An optional profile photo, bio, and social links.

Fitness profile. Age, gender, height, weight, goal, activity level, and training experience. You can skip this step; it is used to calculate your calorie and macro targets.

Nutrition and activity logs. Meals you log (including meal photos you take or choose), foods, calories and macros, water intake, weight entries, workouts, sets, reps, and personal records.

Approximate location (optional). If you allow it, the app uses your device's approximate location once to find your US county and state for local leaderboards. We store only the county and state, never your coordinates. You can also choose your county manually or skip this.

Content you create. Custom meals, workouts and plans, challenge entries, leaderboard submissions (including links to videos you provide), and other content you add.

Messages. Messages you exchange with a coach, trainer, or creator inside the app, and support tickets you send us, including any screenshots you attach.

If you give permission, the app reads step count, active calories burned, and exercise time from Apple Health on iPhone or Health Connect on Android. The app does not write any data to Apple Health or Health Connect. See Section 4.

Purchases. If you subscribe, we receive the plan, status, dates, and transaction identifiers from Apple or Google. We never receive your card or bank details.

Device and technical data. A push notification token (if you allow notifications), your device platform and app version, your time zone (so daily features follow your local day), and server logs that include IP addresses, kept by our hosting providers for security and to prevent abuse.

In-app activity. Records needed for app features, such as the days you open the app (for streaks), challenge progress, and how often you use AI features (for usage limits).

• •No advertising identifiers, and no ads in the app.
• •No third-party analytics or crash-reporting tools.
• •No precise location, contacts, microphone recordings, or browsing history.
• •No card or bank details.

• •To provide the Service: your account, logging, targets, training plans, challenges, streaks, and leaderboards.
• •To power AI features: meal photo analysis, nutrition estimates, daily insights, and plan suggestions (see Section 3).
• •To personalize the app, such as calorie and macro targets based on your fitness profile.
• •To connect you with a coach, trainer, or creator you choose, and to credit them when you use their code.
• •To manage subscriptions and check that purchases are genuine.
• •To send push notifications and service emails, such as sign-up codes, password resets, and support replies.
• •To provide customer support.
• •To keep the Service secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with the law.

Mentara Fit uses Anthropic's Claude AI. When you scan a meal, the photo or description is sent to Anthropic to estimate its nutrition. When you use AI insights or plan suggestions, relevant parts of your fitness profile and logs are sent to generate them. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, data sent through its API is not used to train its models. No person at Mentara reviews your meal photos as part of this process.

AI estimates are approximations and are not medical or dietary advice.

Connecting Apple Health or Health Connect is optional and requires your permission. We read only step count, active calories burned, and exercise time, and use them only to show your activity and progress in the app and to calculate related features such as step goals and challenges.

• •We do not use health data for advertising or marketing.
• •We do not sell health data or share it with data brokers.
• •We do not use health data to train AI models.
• •We do not share health data with third parties except the service providers that store it for us, or as required by law.

Mentara Fit's use of information received from Health Connect adheres to the Health Connect Permissions policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Our use of Apple HealthKit data follows Apple's HealthKit guidelines.

Turning it off: on iPhone, open Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Mentara Fit. On Android, open Settings → Health Connect → App permissions → Mentara Fit.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.

Service providers that run the Service for us and may only use your data to do so:

• •Supabase: database, sign-in, file storage, and account emails.
• •Vercel: hosting for our servers and website.
• •Anthropic: AI meal analysis, insights, and plan suggestions.
• •Expo, with Apple Push Notification service and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging: delivering push notifications.
• •Upstash: rate limiting to protect the Service from abuse.
• •Open Food Facts and the USDA FoodData Central database: looking up a barcode or food name you search. Only the search is sent, not who you are.
• •The US FCC Census API: finding your county from a rounded location. No account information is sent.
• •Apple and Google: sign-in (if you use it) and processing subscriptions.

Other users. Your username, name, profile photo, and leaderboard and challenge results can be seen by other users. Friends can see your shared stats. If you block someone, they can no longer interact with you.

Coaches and partners you choose. If you work with a coach or trainer, or use a creator's code, they can see your profile and the meal, workout, and progress data needed to coach you, and messages you send them. If you use a business partner's code, that partner sees your name or username when you redeem one of their coupons.

Legal and business reasons. We may disclose information when required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users or Mentara, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case this Policy continues to apply to your information.

Subscriptions are sold only through Apple In-App Purchase on iPhone and Google Play Billing on Android. Apple or Google processes your payment under their own privacy policies. We store your plan, subscription status, dates, and store transaction identifiers to provide what you paid for. To manage or cancel a subscription, use your Apple ID settings on iPhone or the Google Play app on Android.

If you allow notifications, we store a push token to send reminders, challenge and coaching updates, support replies, and account alerts. You can turn notifications off in your device settings or in the app's notification settings at any time.

We keep your information while your account is open. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → scroll to the bottom → Delete Account) or by following the steps at mentarafit.com/delete-account.

Deleting your account immediately and permanently removes your profile, logs, photos, messages, purchase records held by us, and other account data. Deleted data may remain in encrypted backups for up to 30 days before they are overwritten. Apple and Google keep their own records of your purchases under their policies. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription; cancel it with Apple or Google first.

All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and stored with our database provider, which encrypts data at rest. Access to your data in our database is restricted by row-level security rules, and staff access is limited. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you and authorities of a breach as required by law.

Mentara Fit is intended for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Mentara LLC is based in the United States, and our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers from the EEA and UK.

For users in the EEA and UK, we process your information to perform our contract with you (providing the Service), with your consent (health platform data, notifications, and location), for our legitimate interests (security and improving the Service), and to meet legal obligations. You can withdraw consent at any time.

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or California law), you may have the right to access, correct, download, or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to appeal our decision on a request. We do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. We will not treat you differently for using your rights.

To make a request, email mentarafit@gmail.com. We respond within the time required by law, usually within 30 days.

We may update this Policy when the Service or the law changes. We will update the effective date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or by email.
